Checking in

Things are truckin' along around here. I've been seriously neglecting my blog and I'm sorry. I'm sorry to all the people who have followed me from the beginning and to myself. My blog has been my outlet for a long time. I have my husband sure, but I think I would put him to sleep if I just blathered on all the time about things. I just like having my own little corner of the internet and sharing our journey with people.

My husband's EAS was moved up again. He should be getting out on June 8th (only using 2 days of terminal leave!) and we hope to leave on the 9th or early on the 10th. We're calling it "on the road to nowhere" because once we get to Florida..we've got nowhere to go. I'm hoping we have some sort of plan before we leave California, but at this point, we have nothing! I hope to visit a good friend of mine on our way in Texas. Her husband got out last year and I haven't seen her since they left. She's right along the way so I'm hoping that JR and I can stop and see her for a day or two. It's near the Louisiana border, so my husband and his friend will probably keep going with the truck, but it'll give JR and I a day to take a break.

Our driving situation isn't exactly ideal, but with two cars and a moving truck, we don't have much of a choice. My husband's friend is coming out to help us pack and fix up the jeep a little. The jeep will be loaded on a trailer and my husband will tow it with the truck. JR, Jethro and I will be driving in the Rogue. Not ideal, but it'll work. JR will be 15 months old then (wow, can't believe it!) so hopefully it'll go smoothly.

Speaking of JR, I will be taking him to the doctor today because I suspect he has a yeast rash. It just will not go away and it's discouraging. He's wearing disposables (sad face) and I've been disinfecting his diapers. Hopefully we get to the bottom of the rash today and can get rid of it and get him back into his cloth diapers.

Speaking of cloth, my stash has been an ever changing project. My husband just shakes his head as I constantly sell diapers and get different ones. A majority of our stash was GroVia AIO and Bumgenius Elementals. I decided I didn't like them anymore, so I sold them all and bought Fuzzibunz Elites and Bumgenius pockets (these are more for my husband, he likes velcro). I feel like I'm reaching stash nirvana, but I still want to try a few others. I'm going to a cloth diaper garage sale this weekend to sell off the rest of my old style Fuzzibunz and a few others.

We also entered a new realm of cloth diapering. Cloth wipes. I delayed switching for the longest time because it seemed like a lot of extra work, but thankfully it's really easy. My husband still prefers disposable wipes, and that's fine. I've finally got him putting diapers in the pail (and not just throwing them in the tub) and spraying the dirty ones, so I'm okay with him using disposable wipes.

I'm sure most of you remember my crazy plan to start a cloth diaper business? Well it has not been forgotten, just put on hold. I'm hoping that once we settle, we can revisit the idea and get some plans in motion. My husband is completely supportive and we can't wait.

JR is a paci addict. I have no idea where this came from, but in the past couple of months, he always has his paci. I don't mind, but it was just out of nowhere! It's really cute when you ask him where his paci is and he goes "SI SI SI SI!" He's so smart and he amazes me every day. He says dada, mama, dog, si (paci) and sit (probably because I'm constantly telling him to sit because he literally climbs the walls.)

Is it bad that I'm pretty much done shopping for his birthday? He's getting a bunch of Melissa and Doug wooden toys and a few other things. He just got so many annoying plastic toys for Christmas and he doesn't play with half of them. I would rather get him some toys that he can grow with and eventually be passed on to our other children, or even JR's children someday. I found a lot of really good deals on amazon, so I hope he'll be excited (doubtful LOL)

Still waiting to hear about my botox appeal. I'm going for a brain MRI next week and go back to see my neurologist to discuss other options. My orthopedic surgeon found nothing wrong with my back. She suggested I look into acupuncture, so that's the next step. We'll see what happens though.

Other than that, there isn't too much going on. We're just counting down the days until we can get out of here! It's exciting and scary all at the same time.

Yes I had diapers made from my husband's cammies :P

my child thinks he's a dog, and my dog thinks he's a child. :/

  1. JR has gotten so big! Still as adorable as ever though. Good luck with everything over the next few months or so!
